Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes is not for sale amid links to Arsenal.
The 28-year-old has starred for Brazil at the World Cup so far, registering three assists in as many games to top the charts alongside France’s Michael Olise and Sweden’s former Magpies striker Alexander Isak.
Less than 24 hours after setting up goals for Vinicius Junior and Matheus Cunha in his country’s 3-0 win over Scotland on Wednesday night, it was reported by one national newspaper that the Gunners had held talks with Guimaraes’ camp.

But The Gazette understands United have not yet been contacted by Mikel Arteta’s side. Club sources insist Guimaraes is not for sale.
Guimaraes joined Newcastle from Lyon for £40 million in January 2023 and has gone on to achieve legendary status, becoming the first captain since Bob Moncur in 1969 to lift a trophy after winning the Carabao Cup last year.
Guimaraes gave an emotional interview following that 2-1 win over Liverpool at Wembley, with his passion and love for the club one of several reasons why he is adored by the Geordie faithful. Club chiefs are aware of how damaging it would be to lose their skipper, and importantly have no desire to do so.
Guimaraes still has two years left on his contract and hasn’t indicated any desire to leave. A contract extension should now be a priority.
Anthony Gordon has gone to Barcelona and Sandro Tonali could follow, with Tottenham Hotspur currently leading the chase, but Guimaraes is simply indispensable.
