Chelsea are continuing their aggressive summer rebuild with reports that they have reached an initial agreement with Atalanta for highly rated right-back Marco Palestra in a deal worth around €60 million (£51.6m).
The 21-year-old Italian is widely regarded as one of Serie A’s most promising defensive talents following a breakout loan spell at Cagliari, where his dynamism and consistency drew interest from several top European clubs.
