The summer transfer window is not even two weeks old, yet Liverpool have already been busier than many of their rivals, aided in part by deals that had been progressing earlier in the year.
The £34.5million signing of Spain and Osasuna winger Victor Munoz appears to be only the start of the Reds’ summer business.
Liverpool are reportedly leading the race for RB Leipzig attacker Yan Diomande after submitting an opening offer, with a second bid expected.
Elsewhere, Benfica’s Andreas Schjelderup has emerged as another World Cup 2026 star on Liverpool’s radar. The potential departures of Curtis Jones and Federico Chiesa, meanwhile, could help generate additional funds.
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha has also caught the eye with his performances for Germany at the World Cup, with Liverpool reportedly among several clubs to have made an enquiry for the midfielder.
According to Sky Sports, Newcastle United are interested in Dortmund star Nmecha. Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is a long-time admirer of Nmecha and considered signing the Germany international in 2023 before opting to bring Sandro Tonali to St James’ Park from AC Milan instead.
Nmecha eventually joined Dortmund from Wolfsburg that summer and notably scored his first goal for the club against Newcastle in the Champions League at St James’ Park.
The 25-year-old, who has impressed for Germany at the World Cup, has an €85million (£75.5m) release clause in his contract, which runs until 2030. However, Newcastle are unlikely to meet that valuation given their recruitment strategy and would prefer to negotiate a lower fee.
A deal could become more realistic if Tonali departs this summer. Tottenham Hotspur have already seen an £80m bid rejected for the Italian, while Manchester City are also monitoring his situation.
Newcastle United have already been beaten to the signing of Victor Munoz by Liverpool and will hope to complete a deal for Felix Nmecha quickly to avoid another potential transfer hijack.
