All seven Liverpool players at this summer’s World Cup will feature in the knockout stage following the Netherlands’ 3-1 win over Tunisia.
Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch and Cody Gakpo all started the match, helping the Netherlands secure top spot in Group F with seven points.
Elsewhere, Alexis Mac Allister (Argentina), Alisson (Brazil), Alexander Isak (Sweden) and Florian Wirtz (Germany) have also progressed to the last 32.
In transfer news, Liverpool continue to be linked with RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, who will also be involved in the knockout stage after Ivory Coast’s 2-0 win over Curacao. The Reds have reportedly reached an agreement with Diomande’s camp to bring him to Anfield.
According to Sky Sports, Liverpool are planning to make at least one addition in central midfield this summer, with the club monitoring the market closely.
They are among several Premier League sides, including Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Everton, Crystal Palace, Brentford, Brighton, Leeds, Sunderland and the three promoted clubs, who are also expected to explore midfield reinforcements.
Liverpool have already secured the signings of Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz, but attention is now turning towards potential exits.
Curtis Jones’ future remains a major talking point, with long-standing interest from Inter Milan resurfacing in January.
In the past week, the Serie A champions reportedly made a £21.7m bid for the midfielder, but Liverpool quickly rejected the approach, valuing him at around £35m.
Nottingham Forest have also now entered the race for the 25-year-old, with their interest linked to Elliot Anderson’s expected record move to Manchester City.
Alexis Mac Allister has also been linked with an exit, adding further uncertainty to Liverpool’s midfield ahead of a pivotal summer.
Liverpool are expected to be active in the market, having been previously linked with Adam Wharton, Ayyoub Bouaddi, Lamine Camara and Mamadou Sangare, though competition for targets remains strong.
Midfield reinforcements are seen as a priority following a mixed campaign under Arne Slot, with further changes still possible depending on outgoings.
