Bruno Guimaraes moved to Newcastle United from Lyon in January 2022 and has become a key figure under Eddie Howe.
He has made over 150 appearances for the club in the Premier League, scoring 30 goals, and is also an important player for Brazil.
Newcastle have already sold winger Anthony Gordon to Barcelona this summer in a £69.3m deal, while also facing uncertainty over Sandro Tonali’s future.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with Guimaraes and are reportedly preparing a second bid to test Newcastle’s resolve, with the midfielder among their top targets.
According to transfer expert Ben Jacobs, Liverpool have also made an initial enquiry regarding Guimaraes, although no formal offer has followed.
Jacobs told Redmen TV: “There was an initial inquiry on the player side with Bruno Guimaraes, and we know in the last 24/48 hours, Arsenal are the ones that have actually put a number over his head.
“Liverpool just did what Manchester United did months back, they spoke with the agent and that was it. So I’m not aware that they’re progressing there either. And it wouldn’t surprise me if they want a younger kind of profile.
“Plus, let’s not forget that Newcastle United don’t want to sell. If you cast your eye back to the summer when they were really doing their big midfield revamp before they got the names in, Liverpool were obviously the ones bidding for Moises Caicedo along with Chelsea.
“They were trying for Romeo Lavia along with Chelsea and who knows what will happen with Romeo Lavia, but I don’t think Liverpool will be back there.”
Newcastle are not currently under pressure to sell Bruno Guimaraes. The sale of Gordon to Barcelona has strengthened their financial position, while Tonali continues to be linked with a possible exit.
Guimaraes has two years remaining on his contract, meaning this summer could represent Newcastle’s last opportunity to secure maximum value for him if a decision is made to sell. However, a departure is unlikely unless the player pushes for a move, and there is no indication of that at present.
With the World Cup ongoing, his immediate focus remains on international duty, meaning his stance on his future may not become clear for several weeks.
