Arsenal are reportedly preparing a second offer for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. Claims emerged on Thursday that the Gunners had shown interest in the 28-year-old Brazilian international and had engaged in discussions with his representatives.
However, Newcastle made their position clear that Guimaraes is not available for transfer, issuing a hands-off warning to the Premier League champions and other potential suitors. Despite this, the Daily Mail state that Arsenal are considering a fresh proposal to the Magpies.
Chronicle Live reported this week, in the aftermath of the 28-year-old's sparkling display for Brazil as they pushed Scotland to the brink of World Cup elimination, that it remains to be seen whether Arsenal can produce a bid that can blow the Magpies out of the water after their reported initial £55million approach was rebuffed.
Guimaraes is currently representing Brazil at the World Cup alongside Arsenal players Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Martinelli, and while he hasn't informed Newcastle of any desire to depart, his name continues to be linked with a potential move.
Newcastle have not received any official approach or had an offer. Bruno had a £100million release clause in 2024 when Manchester City were said to have shown an interest. But a bid close to the figure wasn't forthcoming while reports suggest City are on the verge of spending £116million on Magpies academy graduate Elliot Anderson.
The former Lyon player, who arrived at St. James' Park in January 2022, has two years remaining on his deal. He has since featured in 195 matches for the Magpies, finding the net 31 times, and was part of the squad that ended their lengthy trophy drought by claiming the Carabao Cup during the 2024/25 campaign.

Back in March, reports emerged that Manchester United were in 'advanced talks' to bring Guimaraes to Old Trafford. Newcastle boss Howe was quick to pour cold water on those claims at the time, branding them "nonsense".
He said: "I don't even know how to respond to that. I don't even think I should because it's a waste of my energy. I'm not going to be impolite because I don't think it's the forum to do that in. For me it's a nonsense story.
"Bruno's our captain, he's fully committed. He's injured at the moment, his only focus is coming back to fitness. For me, it is not the time to think about it. In the summer, you can understand those stories a little bit more because the transfer window is open.
"To say our captain is in discussions with another club is totally disrespectful to Bruno more than anything else. He is totally committed here."
Question marks remain over some of Newcastle's star players after they missed out on Champions League and European football following a poor campaign.
Sandro Tonali is currently the topic of speculation with a St. James' Park exit possible. Last week, an £80million bid from Arsenal's north London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, was rejected and at this stage, a return to the table from Roberto De Zerbi's side or a tug-of-war sparking in the wake of the initial bid remains to be seen.
Meanwhile, Newcastle have already waved farewell to Anthony Gordon, who completed a lucrative move to Barcelona. The former Everton winger called time on his chapter in the North East and ventured across to La Liga as he looks to play a starring role for Hansi Flick's side.
