Arsenal have identified Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes as one of their dream midfield targets this summer.
The Premier League champions made a verbal offer of £55 million for Guimaraes recently, but the proposal was immediately turned down by the Magpies.
Newcastle insist that the 28-year-old is not up for sale but a fresh report has revealed exactly what Arsenal would need to do to change that stance.
According to The Telegraph, Newcastle would demand a fee in excess of £100m to sell Guimaraes.
The Gunners are in a very strong financial position after a stellar 2025-26 season.
They won the domestic league title after 22 years and reached the UEFA Champions League final.
Those achievements have placed Arsenal in a position where they could realistically afford a nine-figure move for the Brazilian midfielder.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wants to add an elite midfielder to his ranks.
The Spaniard wants to build a team capable of defending the Premier League crown while finally conquering Europe.
Although Guimaraes may not offer significant resale value, Arsenal are prioritising players capable of making an immediate impact.
The Brazilian perfectly fits that profile.
He bagged nine goals and five assists in 29 league games last season.
His excellent form has also continued on the international stage. Guimaraes currently leads the World Cup assist charts with three assists from his opening three matches.
His club teammate Sandro Tonali is also tipped to seal a summer exit and his preference is to join Arsenal rather than Tottenham Hotspur who have already seen an offer rejected by the Magpies.
Arsenal will be tempted to meet the £100m asking price for Guimaraes rather than Tonali.
While Tonali is supremely talented, Guimaraes would bring greater control to midfield with his outstanding ability to play line-breaking passes from deeper positions.
