Jack Porter looking to become key figure for Arsenal U21s

It is almost two years since Jack Porter became the youngest ever goalkeeper to feature for the Arsenal first-team when he started against Bolton Wanderers in the Carabao Cup in 2024.

That record is unlikely to be broken any time soon but since then Porter has had to be patient for further opportunities.

Last season the goalkeeper appeared to fall behind Khari Ranson in the pecking order, with the latter being named on the bench for three first-team fixtures in the Champions League.

It is now set up for an intriguing battle between Ranson and Porter to see who will be the first-choice goalkeeper for Arsenal U21s this season.

Ranson is perhaps more effective at playing the ball out from the back but Porter also has a lot of qualities himself, especially with regards to his reflexes.

Lucas Nygaard is back from a loan spell at Brabrand but the goalkeeper could well be targeting another temporary move elsewhere.

Remy Mitchell also remains at the club but could mainly be used in a training capacity with the first-team.

Porter will be eager to prove himself again and show that he can be relied upon to perform consistently at U21 level.
