[Voetbal Primeur cover various comments](https://www.voetbalprimeur.be/nieuws/2105572/lof-van-silvio-proto-voor-leandro-trossard-na-winst-rode-duivels.html) from the Belgian media today, where the tone against Trossard has very much changed.
**Arsenal star praised**
------------------------
The Arsenal forward has been facing criticism for weeks following a series of disappointing performances for the Red Devils at the World Cup. He had gone goalless, and assist-less, in the disappointing performances against Egypt and Iran.
That changed on Friday evening as he was the star of the show in the 5-1 win over New Zealand. He bagged two goals in his 72 minutes on the pitch in a commanding performance.
On the RTL programme Dans le Vestiaire, the analysts for the game were unanimous in their praise of the Arsenal forward.
Former goalkeeper Silvio Proto believed that the performance was a milestone one for the 31-year-old.
“I’m delighted; this may well be the first time you can say he’s played a top-class match for the national team,” he said.
“People always said that Trossard is very good, that he has qualities. But when he played for the national team, I was always left with the feeling that something was missing. I wondered when he would put in a top performance. Now he’s done it.”
**Criticism answered**
----------------------
Anthony Vanden Borre, meanwhile, believes that Leandro Trossard has answered all the criticism at exactly the right moment.
“It was an important match; he proved that he absolutely deserves his place in the starting line-up,” he added.
“When things aren’t going quite so well, it’s normal to want a bit more. But Rudi Garcia doesn’t want to lose his player. That’s the main reason.” Analyst Emiliano Bonfigli went one step further. He called Trossard “the best Red Devil at this World Cup so far”.
With a place in the knockout stages now secured, it is perhaps time for the Arsenal forward to prove that and keep the praise coming.
