Another day in the summer transfer window has brought fresh developments for Liverpool.

The ongoing World Cup has already showcased a host of players that the Reds have been linked with. Andoni Iraola's transfer activity got underway earlier this month with the signing of Spanish winger Victor Munoz from Osasuna.

Liverpool is also believed to be firmly in the running for RB Leipzig's Yan Diomande, having made its interest known to the Bundesliga club. A further prominent rumor this summer has centered on Alisson's reported move to a European heavyweight. The latest updates shed new light on both transfer situations.

Diomande timeline

Diomande has made clear that speculation surrounding his future can wait, as the Ivory Coast gears up for its historic first-ever appearance in the knockout stages of a World Cup.

Liverpool signaled its readiness to pay as much as £86 million ($113.5 million) for the RB Leipzig star last week. Nevertheless, the Bundesliga outfit is unwilling to part with the 19-year-old winger and is keen to open contract extension negotiations with the player's representatives in Germany.

Diomande's agency, Roc Nation Sports, is understood to have been canvassing interest from some of Europe's most elite clubs for several months regarding the player's next destination. Paris Saint-Germain is also in the mix, though it is believed Liverpool's pursuit is the most advanced at this stage.

Diomande provided the assist for Nicolas Pepe on Thursday as the Ivory Coast defeated Curacao 2-0 to advance to the last 32 of the World Cup. However, he was unwilling to discuss club football afterward.

He said: "Right now, I don't know. I am not thinking about my future after the World Cup. I am trying to put all my energy into the World Cup, and we will see what is going to happen after that. I can say nothing about."

Alisson 'agreed contract'

Soccer agent David Lavelle has highlighted Iraola's pivotal role in retaining Alisson at Anfield during the summer transfer window.

Serie A team Juventus had been searching for a new goalkeeper and made attempts to lure Liverpool's first-choice stopper away from Merseyside.

Reports even suggested the Brazilian had reached a personal agreement with the club, yet negotiations between the two sides over the transfer fee proved problematic. Lavelle spoke to Oggi Sport Notizie, shedding light on what had stalled the proposed move.

"It must be remembered that Liverpool have changed their manager," he said. "Iraola probably wants to take a look at everyone. Alisson only has one year left on his contract. I know he's reached a personal agreement with Juventus."

He further noted that Liverpool would be keen to retain the player, who is presently representing Brazil at the World Cup.

Lavelle continued: "Players of the caliber of [Mohamed] Salah and [Virgil] van Dijk are about to leave, and you need an older player in the dressing room. I think the Reds want to keep him for that reason."
