Barcelona announce fundraising campaign for victims of Venezuela earthquakes

Barcelona have taken action after two major earthquakes caused devastation across Venezuela earlier this week. At least 920 are believed to have been killed after quakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale caused buildings a lot of damage across the coast of the South American nation.

Having been deeply affected by the tragic scenes coming out of Venezuela in the last few days, Barcelona have made their move by announcing a fundraising campaign through the FC Barcelona Foundation, which will run in conjunction with UNICEF, Save the Children and several other humanitarian organisations. The Catalan club announced this, as well as a contribution of €100k towards the cause, in an official statement posted to social media site [X](https://x.com/FundacioFCB/status/2070795207965024590?s=20).

**“In response to the humanitarian emergency caused by the earthquakes that have affected Venezuela, the FC Barcelona Foundation is launching an extraordinary fundraising campaign, with an initial contribution of €100,000. The funds will be channelled through humanitarian organisations such as UNHCR, UNICEF, Save the Children, the Red Cross, and Oxfam Intermón to support those affected.”**

As well as making their own contribution, Barcelona have asked supporters to also help raise funds for those affected by the earthquakes. The Foundation’s initiative has been designed so that fans can easily make their mark on providing for those that have been involved at the heart of things in Venezuela.

The club are hoping to inspire supporters to get involved. All of the money raised will go towards helping those in need at a time when it is essential, given that many who survived the earthquakes have had their lives turned upside down. The organisations working with Barcelona specialise in reacting to crises, and with sufficient backing, they will be able to provide resources to those left without them.
