Arsenal supporters have reacted with growing excitement after reports claimed Roma midfielder Manu Kone has agreed personal terms over a summer move to the Emirates Stadium.
While the Gunners are still reportedly negotiating with Roma over a transfer fee, news of Kone’s potential arrival has generated plenty of discussion across social media, with many fans believing the French international has the attributes to thrive under Mikel Arteta.
Arsenal Supporters have praised the 26-year-old’s athleticism, ball-carrying ability and defensive work rate, with many viewing him as an ideal partner for Declan Rice in Arsenal’s midfield.
On Reddit, where thousands of Arsenal fans debated the rumours, one supporter admitted: “Never heard of him, sign him up.” The light-hearted comment quickly attracted replies from fans familiar with Serie A.
One response read: “He’s great imo. There’s a reason United wanted him as well, consistent performer.”
Another supporter highlighted one of Kone’s biggest strengths, writing: “He carries the ball like MLS and he can shoot.”
Not every fan agreed with that assessment, however. A Roma supporter joined the discussion to offer a different perspective, replying: “He cannot shoot to save his life… I’m a Roma fan and he’s one of the worst shooting midfielders I’ve ever watched.”
Despite that criticism, the overall mood among Arsenal supporters has been overwhelmingly positive, with many believing Kone’s ability to recover possession, drive through midfield and progress the ball would make him an excellent fit for Arteta’s system.
The excitement has also been fuelled by praise from respected figures within the game. Former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira recently described Kone as “the best midfielder in France,” while football expert Andy Brassell has suggested the Roma star would be “perfect” for Arsenal because of his energy, intelligence and ability to complement Declan Rice in midfield.
Many supporters believe Arsenal‘s recruitment in recent years has earned the club the benefit of the doubt, with fans trusting sporting director Andrea Berta and Arteta if they decide Kone is the right addition.
Although no agreement between Arsenal and Roma has yet been confirmed, social media has made one thing clear. Should the reported deal progress, a large section of the Gunners’ fanbase already believes Kone has the qualities to become another successful addition to Arteta’s evolving squad.
