Liverpool are working extremely hard to beat Arsenal to the signature of Georgian teenager Andria Bartishvili.
Who is Andria Bartishvili?
Bartishvili is not your usual talent who had a breakthrough season in a top European league. He has created a name for himself in the Georgian league and international friendlies. This journey in itself is a massive achievement when one thinks about it. For a Georgian teenager to attract bids from top European clubs, the 17-year-old must be a generational talent.
Andria made his senior debut in April 2025. Back then he was a 16-year-old, becoming the youngest player in the Erovnuli Liga. Again, it is difficult to process the fact that the youngster has rapidly grown from the Georgian league to interest from the world’s biggest leagues. However, it was the international friendlies which truly showcased the talent of Bartishvili.
Bartishvili and the Italian agent who discovered him
The 17-year-old through his unreal individual ability, scored two goals in an Under-17s game against Kazakhstan in Azerbaijan. This was watched by Christian Dzaccardo, an Italian journalist who recommended Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Napoli. Dzaccardo was extremely impressed and claimed Bartishvili has potential to become a great player.
“Recently, a lot of talented players have appeared in Georgia, one of such players is Andria Bartishvili. This 16-year-old attacking midfielder has the potential to become a great player,”the Italian said.
What is the situation with Liverpool and Arsenal?
The Georgian is now on loan at FC Iberia 1999 from Kolkheti Poti. The notable clubs interested in the youngster are Liverpool, Arsenal and Paris FC. With rumors spreading about him signing a deal with Arsenal already, he has denied them. Well known Georgian outlet GEO TEAM reported the news that Bartishivili has NOT signed a deal with Arsenal. And the youngster reposted the news on his Instagram story. This social media activity of him is going to raise hope amongst the Liverpool faithful.
The news story from GEO TEAM, claimed that it is a three-club battle for Bartishivili. Liverpool, Arsenal and Paris FC. It is understood that the offers of both the English club are similar financially. However, Paris FC are trying to attract the youngster by offering him guaranteed first-team football. At the end of the day, the kid would want to play regular football wherever he goes.
How close are Liverpool to signing him?
Bartishvili is seen as one of the brightest talents to have emerged from Georgia. Liverpool would be making a mistake if they don’t aggressively move for the youngster. The whole social media activity of Andria in which he denied the Arsenal rumors, should be a message to Liverpool that they are still in the race.
However, it is important to note that Arsenal were the first club to make contact. They made the initial move for Bartishvili. So it has to be understood that the North London club would be equally determined to secure the Georgian. With Paris FC also being an option with the attraction of first-team football, this three horse race for Andria Bartishvili is going to be a blockbuster transfer saga.
Author’s opinion
As mentioned before, all three offers seem to be extremely identical. The only exception is Paris FC, who are different in stature when compared to Liverpool and Arsenal. Moreover, there is another complication. Bartishvili will not be able to join an English club until March 2027 because he is not 18 yet. So even if Liverpool or Arsenal manage to secure the signing, it will be a pre-contract signing. But that is not stopping both the Premier League giants from pursuing the Georgian.
Nevertheless, it would be a delight to watch Bartishvili in the Premier League. England has always been a welcoming stage for foreign talents to showcase their talent. Hopefully, the Georgian will also make the move to England and make a name for himself.
