Club using weekend to plan next move on Liverpool – Reds not blinking yet

Inter Milan will gather their thoughts this weekend before making further attempts to sign Curtis Jones from Liverpool.

Corriere dello Sport report that following the disappointment over the failure to sign Nico Paz, the Italian champions will turn their focus to other signings.

More Liverpool talks coming

The newspaper reports that there is currently no shortage of names on sporting director Piero Ausilio’s desk. Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones is at the top of the pile. The 25-year-old is the top target to improve their midfield this summer.

Inter made their first move a week ago, but the efforts have been temporarily sidelines since then. Liverpool are not making the deal easy. Inter have offered €25m for the midfielder but the Reds, ‘without batting an eyelid’, have decided to leave it on the table.

It is the second offer from Inter that they’ve rejected, following a €20m bid a few weeks ago. Liverpool have taken no steps to approach the Italian champions. Nor are they showing a willingness to accommodate Jones’ desire to join Inter immediately.

€35m demands too high

They want as much as £40m – €35m – and there have also been negotiations regarding a percentage of any future resale also. In short, their demands are ‘extremely high’ and far from what Inter are currently offering.

The fact that Jones’ current deal expires in 2027 does not seem to be worrying them. It is certainly not causing any panic. Corriere say all indications are that they can afford him and have no need to raise funds at any cost.

Inter need to find a way to talk those in charge at Anfield around. For now, they are providing the Italian giants with nothing but silence and apparent uninterest.

Whether that stance changes the further summer goes on, remains to be seen. Inter, it seems, will take the weekend to decide their next steps.
