Saudi club set aside€60m for Mohamed Salah’s salary

Mohamed Salah’s next chapter remains unwritten, but a clear frontrunner is emerging for his signature, and the figures being discussed suggest his earning power shows no signs of slowing down despite his departure from Anfield this summer.

The Egyptian King left Liverpool after nine extraordinary seasons, bringing the curtain down on one of the most celebrated individual careers in Premier League history.

Across 435 appearances in all competitions, Salah scored 255 goals and provided 119 assists for the Reds, including 193 Premier League goals in 328 top flight appearances.

His final season at the club may have been his most complete yet, registering 29 goals and 18 assists in the league alone, becoming the first player in Premier League history to simultaneously win the Golden Boot, Player of the Season, and Playmaker of the Season awards.

That 47 goal involvement campaign helped drag Liverpool to the title, adding to a personal collection that already included four Premier League Golden Boots and three PFA Players’ Player of the Year awards.

Now 34 and a free agent, Salah has been linked with a number of destinations.

Fenerbahce had been most closely mentioned in recent weeks, with suggestions of a move to Turkey gaining traction.

However, a new report from South America has shifted the conversation decisively toward the Middle East.

According to Brazilian journalist Bruno Andrade, a reporter with an established reputation for contacts across both the European and Saudi transfer markets, Al Hilal have made Salah their absolute priority attacking target for this summer window.

Andrade, speaking via his No Fala a Fonte platform, described the 34 year old as the club’s “maximum dream” for the attack, with a renewed pursuit of Barcelona’s Raphinha having been effectively shelved.

Andrade added pointedly that “something tells me it will end up being Mohamed Salah.”

The financial structure being proposed reflects just how serious Al Hilal’s interest is.

According to Andrade’s report, the club have set aside 60 million euros for Salah’s salary across a three year contract, equivalent to 20 million euros per season.

A fourth year option also exists, which would bring the total package to 80 million euros.

Even so, that annual figure would represent a step down from the 400,000 pounds per week, roughly 20.8 million pounds per year, that Salah earned in his final year at Liverpool.

The move has been facilitated by Al Hilal’s recent change of ownership, with Prince Al Waleed bin Talal Al Saud having purchased the club from the Saudi sovereign fund earlier this year, providing fresh financial firepower.

The club would look to pair Salah with Karim Benzema in attack, replacing the inconsistent Brazilian winger Malcom.

Salah is currently leading Egypt’s line at the 2026 World Cup, having already scored against New Zealand and provided key assists against both Belgium and New Zealand, as Egypt advanced from Group G following a 1 1 draw with Iran.

Any transfer decision is expected to wait until after his international commitments conclude.
