Liverpool would like to keep Alisson

Juventus’ pursuit of Alisson Becker has collapsed after their offer was described as “brazen” and “shameless” by an agent close to the deal, with Liverpool now expected to hold onto one of their most important dressing room figures heading into a major transitional period at the club.

The story behind the failed transfer has now emerged in detail, with FIFA agent David Lavelle, speaking exclusively to Oggi Sport Notizie on behalf of 365 Football Management, lifting the lid on why the move never came close to crossing the line despite Alisson personally agreeing terms with the Italian giants.

According to Lavelle, Juventus entered the race for Alisson with serious ambitions.

The 33 year old Brazilian had reached a contractual agreement over personal terms with the Bianconeri, and manager Luciano Spalletti was known to be keen on adding one of European football’s most decorated goalkeepers to his squad.

However, when Juventus made their formal approach to Liverpool, the figures they proposed were immediately rejected.

Lavelle was damning in his assessment of the bid.

He said, “I know he’s reached a personal agreement with Juventus.”

“I think the Brazilian is worth around €15 million or so, and the Bianconeri entered the race for this goalkeeper with a brazen offer.”

“I don’t know if the Juventus management offered €7 million to Liverpool just because he’s in the final year of his contract.”

That offer of reportedly just €7 million for one of the world’s best goalkeepers was dismissed outright by Liverpool, and Lavelle made clear why the Reds had no interest in accepting such a figure regardless of Alisson’s contractual situation.

He added, “Alisson is 33 and was very injury-prone last season.”

“Despite that, he’s undoubtedly one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and Liverpool would like to keep him.”

“Players of the caliber of Salah and Van Dijk are about to leave, and you need an older player in the dressing room.”

“I think the Reds want to keep him for that reason.”

The agent also pointed to Liverpool’s managerial change as a key factor, noting,”It must be remembered that Liverpool have changed their manager.”

‘Iraola probably wants to take a look at everyone before starting.”

“Alisson only has one year left on his contract.”

The context makes Liverpool’s position entirely understandable.

Alisson has been at the heart of everything the club has achieved since his £56.25 million arrival from AS Roma in 2018.

Across 333 Liverpool appearances, he has accumulated 103 Premier League clean sheets in 255 top flight games, won two Premier League titles, a Champions League, an FA Cup, and an EFL Cup, and earned two Golden Glove awards in the process.

His sole career goal, a 95th minute header against West Brom in May 2021, famously kept Liverpool’s Champions League qualification hopes alive in one of Anfield’s most dramatic moments.

With Mohamed Salah already departed and Virgil van Dijk’s future also uncertain, losing another senior voice of Alisson’s standing and experience would represent a significant cultural blow for Andoni Iraola as he begins rebuilding.

At the 2026 World Cup, Alisson has already kept consecutive clean sheets for Brazil against Haiti and Scotland, demonstrating he remains at the top of his game despite the injury disrupted 2025/26 club season that saw him make just 26 Premier League appearances, keeping 8 clean sheets.

Juventus, meanwhile, must return to the market to find their goalkeeping solution elsewhere.
