Chelsea have reportedly turned down an approach from Serie A outfit Como for the transfer of defender Trevoh Chalobah, who is at the FIFA World Cup. The England international had been linked with an exit from his boyhood club ahead of the commencement of the 2026-27 season.

Journalist Matt Law reports that Como submitted an offer worth £22 million including add-ons to sign the 26-year-old this summer. The bid from the Italian side was turned down, with Chelsea holding out for a total package that would reach £35 million for the defender.

The Blues are asking for a base fee of £30 million, with add-ons to take the deal up to their required £35 million price tag to do business for the centre-back. The defender has been linked with an exit from the club in multiple windows in recent years despite establishing himself as a regular.

Trevoh Chalobah has played 151 times for Chelsea, and his performances in the 2025-26 season earned him a place in England's squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Englishman reportedly wishes to concentrate on the FIFA World Cup this summer before addressing talk of a transfer to any other club.

Chalobah is not only attracting interest from Como, but is also wanted by Serie A champions Inter Milan. With both clubs having qualified for the UEFA Champions League, they can offer something he wouldn't get at Stamford Bridge and he could be on his way to Italy this summer.

Chelsea star doubtful for remainder of FIFA World Cup: Reports

Chelsea captain Reece James is a doubt for the remainder of the FIFA World Cup this summer, as per reports. The 26-year-old picked up a hamstring injury after featuring for England in their second Group L game against Ghana earlier this week.

According to Sky Sports, James picked up the hamstring problem against Ghana and asked to be taken off in the closing stages, but had to continue as the Three Lions had already used all five substitutions. He finished the game but is now set for a spell on the sidelines, and may not appear in the competition anymore.

Reece James has been a key player for Thomas Tuchel's side at the FIFA World Cup, playing in both of England's games so far. His injury against Ghana will now force Tuchel to turn to one of his other defenders, potentially Djed Spence, to feature at right-back.
