Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has urged the Reds to sign FIFA World Cup star Christian Pulisic as a replacement for Mohamed Salah. He believes the AC Milan star has a path similar to the Egyptian's after his stint at Chelsea.
Taking on X (formerly Twitter), Fowler said that he is surprised that the USMNT star's name is not mentioned in the media. He pointed at the qualities and age of the FIFA World Cup star and posted:
"Plenty of rumours about as to who's going to @LFC, one name I've not seen mentioned is pulisic... good age , played in the prem, exciting player , I'd take him, potentially a Salah type of pathway, thoughts?"
Liverpool are looking for a replacement for Salah, after the Egyptian left the club at the end of the season. He cut short his stay by a season, after the fallout with Arne Slot, who has also left the club and has been replaced by Andoni Iraola.
Fowler is not the only former player to bring up Pulisic's name as a possible Salah replacement. Emile Heskey also named the USMNT star earlier this year and said:
"We’re talking about replacing Mohamed Salah and I think as fans you’ve got to look at something different because you can’t replace Mo Salah. I actually quite like Christian Pulisic. He is very direct. He probably didn’t get as many goals as I would have liked him to get at Chelsea but I thought he gave defences problems."
"Obviously after a good World Cup, being at home with the pressure on him, he is definitely someone who could offer something different to Mohamed Salah or even Cody Gakpo right now. Mo left Chelsea to go to Italy and look at what he’s done for Liverpool. I think it’d be great to see someone like Pulisic come back into the Premier League in the same way. I’m guessing he would love to show that his time at Chelsea was just a little blip. He was only a young lad when he came over."
Christian Pulisic has not signed a new deal at AC Milan and could be available after the FIFA World Cup.
Can Liverpool lure Christian Pulisic after the FIFA World Cup?
Christian Pulisic will be entering the final year of his contract at AC Milan this summer. He has put contract talks on hold because of the FIFA World Cup, but that has only increased interest in him.
Liverpool were previously linked with the former Chelsea man, but have not moved ahead. They are reportedly looking to sign Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig instead.
