Newcastle United transfers: TalkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan has given his cynical thoughts on Bruno Guimaraes’ future.
Simon Jordan has hit back at Eddie Howe’s suggestion of ‘disrespectful’ stories linking Bruno Guimaraes with a move away from Newcastle United.
Towards the back end of the 2025/26 season, stories first surfaced about Guimaraes potentially leaving Newcastle with Manchester United reportedly in talks. This past week has seen the noise surrounding the Brazilian’s future ramp up once again with Arsenal now the ones credited with making a move for the player.
Back in April, Howe slammed the nature of the stories linking his captain with a move away.
"To say our captain is in discussions with another club is totally disrespectful to Bruno more than anything else, he is totally committed here,” he said.
But that view was met with cynicism from talkSPORT pundit and former Crystal Palace chairman, Simon Jordan.
Jordan hit back at Howe’s comments, stating: “I don't know what Eddie's talking about as far as disrespect is concerned. This industry is founded on disrespect in terms of players doing precisely what they want, so he probably is doing exactly what Eddie says he's not doing.”

PIF tipped to sell Newcastle United
Jordan also doubled down on his belief that Newcastle’s majority owners, the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, will sell the club in the near future having backed the club into a corner financially.
“They are a club that a lot of players were assigned to on the vision of an opportunity, and that vision is not being pushed by the ownership for whatever reason, whether the Saudis have shot their bolt,” Jordan said.
“We are talking about people that have huge wealth and so the idea that they would hide behind PSR as an opportunity not to build, what is the purpose? I mean I think they'll sell Newcastle, that's what I think will happen.”
Stuart Pearce wants NUFC to get fans excited again
Responding to Jordan’s comments, former Newcastle and England defender Stuart Pearce called on the club to ‘rekindle that excitement’ that has been lost over the past 12 months.
“I find it quite sad for Newcastle because Newcastle were on the up,” Pearce said. “When I first joined the club, they were in the Champions League finishing second in the league.
“You thought a few years ago they're on the cusp of big things, growing the club, European football on a regular basis.
“I like Eddie Howe, I'm a big fan, and you just want to see them keep growing but they seem to have stumbled at the moment, they need to rekindle that excitement again.”
