Liverpool target Andreas Schjelderup only wants to move to a club playing Champions League football, according to reports in Portugal.

Record (via Football.London) claim that Chelsea have made an enquiry for the Norwegian international, but nothing has progressed further than that due to the player’s stance.

Schjelderup is believed to be on the Reds’ shortlist as they seek to strengthen their options out wide.

Italian sources have suggested that Andoni Iraola’s side are one of his suitors, along with Tottenham, Atletico Madrid, AC Milan and Como.

Schjelderup had a strong 2nd half of the season

Benfica boss Jose Mourinho was initially not the biggest fan of the 22-year-old, having questioned his ability to play a full 90 minutes in the early part of the 2025/26 campaign.

However, Schjelderup won over his manager with his performances since the beginning of 2026. The Norwegian eventually ended the season with 10 goals and 7 assists, which is some achievement considering that he had scored just twice before the New Year.

His price tag would make him an attractive target for Liverpool

Record report that Benfica are hoping to get around €40m (£34.5m) for the winger, which would be a substantial markup on the €9m they paid FC Nordsjaelland in the summer of 2023.

Schjelderup would still cost considerably less than the likes of Yan Diomande, with RB Leipzig holding out for around €130m (£112m) for the Ivorian international.

However, there are doubts over whether he possesses the same level of potential. Diomande clearly has a big future ahead of him, and he is understandably the preferred target for the Reds at the moment.
