Few players have embodied England’s modern era quite like Jordan Henderson, and another landmark has now underlined his remarkable longevity on the international stage.
Liverpool supporters know better than most what Jordan Henderson can bring to a side and he is known for much more than just his performances on the pitch, making him a valuable player within a dressing room looking to win silverware.
Signed from Sunderland in 2011, he went on to captain the Reds during the most successful period in the club’s modern history, lifting the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup before departing Anfield in 2023.
His England journey has been equally as memorable. From making his senior debut in 2010, Henderson has played key roles in multiple major tournaments.
During the Three Lions’ 2-0 victory over Panama at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Jordan Henderson etched his name into the history books by becoming the first player to represent England at four seperate World Cups.
Henderson came off the bench in the second half, adding another milestone to an international career that has spanned well over a decade.
The acheivement sees the former Liverpool captain join an elite group of players who have featured at four editions of the tournament for their country.
The England midfielder featured in Brazil in 2014, Russia in 2018, Qatar in 2022 before making history at the tournament held across United States, Canada and Mexico this summer.
It is another testament to Henderson’s professionalism and resilience.
After being overlooked for EURO 2024, many believed his international career had come to an end.
Instead, Thomas Tuchel restored the veteran midfielder to the England squad, valuing his leadership, experience and influence within the Three Lions dressing room.
A new piece of history now belongs to the 36-year-old.
