‘Especially Arsenal’ most serious for signing–Manchester United and Chelsea also persuading player

Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea have made attempts to sign Barcelona’s Marc Bernal this summer.

The 19-year-old made his first team debut for Barcelona in August 2024, after climbing through their youth system.

Manchester United have had him on their radar since then. Arsenal and Chelsea have now joined them in the race to sign the defensive midfielder.

Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea keen

Saturday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo covers the Premier League trio’s interest and his plans for the future.

He suffered a serious knee injury in August 2024 and only returned to the pitch at the start of last season.

Hansi Flick mainly utilised Marc Bernal as a substitute as he played 1,313 minutes from 33 matches, managing five goals and an assist.

His performances and potential would have convinced Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea.

Several clubs have already made approaches to ask about him and some of them have made advances.

Manchester United, Chelsea and ‘especially Arsenal’ have all gathered information about him.

Among these, the Gunners took it ‘most seriously’, but none of them have tabled any offers.

However, the three English clubs have persuaded him to leave the La Liga winners and move to England.

Last September, Barcelona offered him a new contract until 2029, weeks after he regained full fitness. This is a clear sign of their long-term plans for the Spaniard.

Why summer move almost impossible

The Catalan club have no plans to part ways with Marc Bernal this summer.

Bernal, for his part, is also keen on staying at the Camp Nou. Despite receiving interest and offers, the youngster will not change his mind.

The midfielder is showing his ‘absolute loyalty’ to the Blaugrana by saying ‘no to interest from several Premier League clubs, especially Arsenal’.

The player has a €500m release clause, while Transfermarkt value him at €30m. This is the highest value of his career.

Barcelona and Bernal maintain a tough stance and that could be why the three English clubs haven’t submitted any offers. That should put an end to the short saga.
