Next Scotland manager - Candidates and latest odds
Robert Snodgrass is sure David Moyes can become the Scotland boss.
And the former international believes departed Steve Clarke will feel let down by the flops of his World Cup stars.
Scotland’s meek exit from the World Cup has resulted in the bombshell resignation of Clarke after seven years in the job and three tournament qualifications.
The 62-year-old has walked away despite signing a bumper new four-year contract just prior to jetting out to the United States for the campaign.
Clarke’s stunning move has left the SFA without a boss and Hampden chiefs must now set about finding a replacement.
But Snodgrass is convinced his old West Ham gaffer is the ideal candidate to take the post from Clarke.

Moyes is currently working at Everton on a lucrative agreement with the Merseyside outfit having been lured back to the Toffees.
Snodgrass, who won 28 caps for his country, said: “It is a testament to David Moyes that he has always had options in the Premier League, which has been a big pull for him.
“What a terrific manager and a great guy. He speaks so highly of Scotland and I’m sure further down the line that might be the case.
“He did a terrific job last year and he will want to kick on again. He is fully equipped to succeed, that is David Moyes.
“That is why he has been at the top for so long. In terms of Scotland, who knows what might happen?”
Clarke’s decision came from a tournament exit which saw them narrowly beat Haiti before losing to both Morocco and Brazil.
Just one goal was scored in three matches and Snodgrass said: “In his last few interviews, Steve Clarke has shown a lot of frustration.
“I can’t speak on behalf of him, but I would probably put it down to it being fresh after the game.
“He maybe hadn’t even spoken to his players yet before getting a microphone in his face. But this is your job, you need to answer these questions the best way you can.

“He’s probably just disappointed. He has a group of players that he loves and he probably just feels a bit let down by the performance.
“As I say, it is very unlike Scotland to make mistakes like that at such a vital time.”
Speaking to talkSPORT BET Sportsbook, Snodgrass continued: “The reaction is disappointment. You’re sitting there watching as a fan and hoping Scotland can get something from the game.
“I think the biggest thing everyone was talking about before the game was whether you go for it or work on goal difference.
“Knowing Steve Clarke and the type of manager he is, does he really go for games and try to press teams high?
“I think his natural approach is to try and stay in the game and always give yourself a chance to win. It was pretty much like the Morocco performance, where you don’t go quite so expansive.
“I think he probably went with that approach thinking about being the best third-placed team. When you look at the way we conceded the goals, it is very unlike Scotland, they have been solid, but I’ve not really seen that lately.
“I don’t know if there are nerves creeping in because of the big stage, but they have been to tournaments before so I can’t make excuses for that.
“They will probably look back and say they could have helped themselves more. I feel as if they have not given themselves a good chance to be in the game because those mistakes have cost them.
“I just feel as if it is all down to giving yourself a chance to win the game by staying in it. To be honest, you could see the reaction, it’s really disappointing.
“Steve Clarke has done a great job of getting us through to tournaments. He has had a great managerial and coaching career. Now it is about finding a way to progress within the tournaments.

“He has filled the nation with confidence that he can get us there. You support and build from that. He will sit down, settle, and hopefully come back as a better version of himself. He has shown everyone he can do it and he will find a way.

“The Scotland fans are incredible, absolutely amazing. The Tartan Army is everywhere, and seeing everyone coming together is great. They have connected with a lot of places like Boston and Miami. The content and videos have been a breath of fresh air and I love seeing it.
“Seeing the Scottish fans happy and smiling is great, they deserve to be at these big tournaments, especially with that fan base. It is sad for them and a loss for the tournament.”
