Eduardo Camavinga will be available to Liverpool this summer for €60 million ($68 million), in news that will soften the blow of missing out on Yan Diomande.
Liverpool is facing a hectic transfer window after the departures of head coach Arne Slot and legendary forward Mohamed Salah, with a new midfielder almost certain to join as well due to the need to improve defensively. The Reds had been heavily linked with RB Leipzig forward Diomande, but it now seems he has chosen Paris Saint-Germain instead.
The Reds are expected to wait until after the World Cup before making any drastic moves, with new head coach Andoni Iraola said to be eager to get a look at his players before deciding on ins and outs. Liverpool.com has all the latest from around Anfield...
Diomande blow
Diomande has decided he will only move to Paris Saint-Germain if he leaves RB Leipzig this summer, reports The Athletic. The winger had been Liverpool's first choice to replace Salah, and the club had been in contact with the German side to sound out a potential deal.
Despite the gargantuan transfer fee in excess of $100 million for the 19-year-old, Diomande remained Liverpool's top target of the summer. However, it's now emerged he wants to play under Luis Enrique in Paris instead, as he views a move there as his best chance of winning the Ballon d'Or.
Camavinga battle
It is claimed by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo that the Reds are interested in Camavinga, as Andoni Iraola gets to work on revamping his midfield options. Madrid is open to selling Camavinga, who has been at the club since 2021, winning the Champions League on two occasions with Los Blancos.
A quite large obstacle is the player's apparent desire to remain at Madrid, so Liverpool would have to convince him that his career would be best served by a move to Merseyside. Camavinga's athleticism and high energy levels are exactly what Liverpool needs in midfield after a season in which the players looked leggy in that area of the pitch.
Manchester United is also said to be a fan of Camavinga, with the Red Devils likely to be in the market for multiple new midfielders following Casemiro's exit.
TEAMtalk reported last week that Liverpool had made direct contact with Camavinga's camp over the possibility of him moving to Anfield.
The Athletic reports that Madrid is willing to sell Camavinga this summer as it focuses on bringing Enzo Fernandez to the Bernabeu from Chelsea.
Chiesa latest
Meanwhile, Liverpool has told Federico Chiesa to find a new club this summer, according to Football Insider.
It is claimed that Liverpool's activity in the transfer market – the club has already signed Victor Munoz, and is working on a deal to sign Yan Diomande – is proof that Chiesa is no longer wanted at Anfield.
Chiesa himself is said to want regular first-team minutes as he looks to revive a career that has been faltering for several years.

Liverpool's apparent decision on Chiesa is at odds with something Andoni Iraola said during his first interview as Liverpool manager earlier this month.
Iraola told club media that he would give every player a chance to prove their worth to him during pre-season.
"For me, and I will tell them, [they] are all new signings," Iraola said when commenting on the players in his squad.
"For me, you are all new signings, and I think we have a lot of quality in our squad, and [I'm] really looking forward to working with them."

Although it sounds as though Chiesa will be sold, Iraola is expected to give Harvey Elliott a chance to prove his worth upon the youngster's return from his ill-fated loan spell at Aston Villa.
