Nottingham Forest's pursuit of Curtis Jones as a replacement for an outgoing Elliot Anderson will depend on the Tricky Trees' willingness to meet Liverpool's demands.

Vitor Pereira is set to lose his star man in the coming days, following a £116million agreement with Manchester City.

Anderson has completed a medical for the Cityzens while on international duty with England at the World Cup, with an announcement seemingly imminent.

As a result, Forest will look to replace the 23-year-old as a priority, considering just how important he was to their engine room in 2025/26.

While the City Ground club have been linked with a swoop for Liverpool's Jones, a successful transfer is likely to hinge on Forest paying the £40m the Reds command for the Liverpudlian.

Inter Milan, for example, have already seen a £21.5m approach for the 25-year-old swiftly rebuffed, and Liverpool are thought to be content to retain Jones should respective suitors fail to meet their valuation.

That's despite the versatile midfielder entering the last year of his contract at Anfield, although talks over a new deal have not been ruled out just yet - Liverpool more than happy to conduct internal business late on as seen in Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah's case the season before last.

Thousands of Nottingham Forest fans upgraded their matchday last season. This is how they did it.

Jones made 34 Premier League appearances for Liverpool in 2025/26, racking up 1,930 minutes in total in the English top flight as his club managed a fifth-place finish despite a slow start to their title-defending campaign.

However, he is not the only midfield option that Forest could opt to pursue this summer.

Lucas Bergvall has outlined his intentions of leaving Tottenham Hotspur in the coming months, as he looks for a new challenge following inconsistent gametime in North London.

Spurs only signed the 20-year-old from Djurgarden in 2024 in an £8.5m move, and are in no great rush to accept lowball offers for the Swedish international as a result.

However, they could opt to accept a cut-price fee to free up transfer funds and wages as they continue to pursue Newcastle United's Sandro Tonali and West Ham's Mateus Fernandes.
