Fabrizio Romano confirms movement around Yan Diomande alternative

Liverpool’s summer pursuit of attacking reinforcements hit a significant wall this week after Yan Diomande, the RB Leipzig winger they had been chasing for months, effectively chose Paris Saint-Germain over Anfield.

The Reds had gone as far as tabling an offer in the region of £86m for the 19-year-old Ivory Coast international, but Leipzig held firm in their demands for a figure closer to £112m – and Diomande himself made the decision easier for all parties by indicating his strong preference to join the European champions in France.

It is a blow Liverpool will have been bracing for.

Now Fabrizio Romano has strongly hinted that the Anfield club could well be making a move for PSG’s Bradley Barcola, with Diomande’s move to the French capital potentially starting a transfer domino of sorts:

“Don’t forget the name Bradley Barcola. Don’t forget that Barcola is a player Liverpool wanted in summer 2025, and remains on Liverpool list for summer 2026,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.

“He remains a name for Liverpool. PSG are yet to give the green light for his exit this summer. But I told you many times, there is movement around Bradley Barcola.”

“In France, many sources are saying he’s not leaving PSG. My information is that the situation of Barcola remains open. There is still a possibility for Barcola to leave Paris this summer.”

“If Liverpool go strong, there is still a possibility to see movement around Bradley Barcola, especially with the Yan Diomande story going the direction of Paris Saint-Germain.”

The key caveat for now is timing. Barcola is currently representing France at the 2026 World Cup, with Les Bleus having progressed into the knockout rounds,

It means any real movement on his club future is unlikely until their campaign concludes, with the final scheduled for July 19. Liverpool are expected to use that window to prepare their approach, ready to resume talks with PSG the moment France’s World Cup journey comes to an end.
