Liverpool may be close to resolving its Curtis Jones dilemma.
With just 12 months remaining on his contract and no extension discussions apparently forthcoming, the Reds may have finally identified a club capable of convincing them to sell the 25-year-old. England international Elliot Anderson is poised to complete a £116 million ($153 million) switch to Manchester City from Nottingham Forest.
The Premier League outfit will need to bring in a replacement for the former Newcastle youngster and have considerable funds at their disposal to do so. Forest has already been touted as a potential suitor for Reds midfielder Jones as it seeks to bolster its engine room with several new additions.
Should the Merseyside club be willing to sanction a departure for its academy graduate, Forest appears well-placed financially to meet its valuation.
This stands in stark contrast to Inter Milan, which has been monitoring Jones since January. The Serie A team has done little but frustrate Liverpool with its pursuit, however.
The Reds rebuffed a £21 million ($27 million) approach from Inter, as the proposal fell well short of their valuation of Jones' worth. The midfielder carries a price tag of approximately £35 million ($46 million), despite entering the final year of his deal.

Richard Hughes is said to have little appetite for drawn-out negotiations with Inter. Given the Italian club's conduct throughout the process, it is not currently regarded as a credible contender to secure Jones' signature.
Diomande blow
In other news, Liverpool has suffered a setback in its transfer ambitions. Reported target Yan Diomande is said to favor a move to Paris Saint-Germain should he depart RB Leipzig.
Ivory Coast star Diomande has been pinpointed as Liverpool's prime candidate to fill the void left by Mohamed Salah, with the club having already secured the signing of Victor Munoz.
The Reds submitted a £86 million ($113 million) offer to Leipzig for the 19-year-old, yet the Bundesliga outfit has remained resolute in its determination to retain him.
It would appear, however, that Liverpool is far from Diomande's preferred destination.

According to The Athletic, Diomande has set his sights on PSG, not only because he believes the French capital club offers him the greatest chance of competing for major honors and the Ballon d'Or, but also due to his desire to work under manager Luis Enrique.
Diomande had previously appeared receptive to the prospect of playing in the Premier League. "I don't know. I'm an RB Leipzig player, but why not?" he said.
"In the end, my agents take care of that. As for me, I'm more focused on the World Cup."
