Liverpool eye Diomande fallback after PSG blow

**Liverpool are set to look at alternative targets after losing out on Yan Diomande.**

A tentative approach for the highly-rated winger made by Anfield chiefs to their RB Leipzig counterparts earlier this month was rejected due to a gulf in valuations.

The Reds signalled their intention to sanction a €100 million (£86M) package for Diomande but the Bundesliga outfit are holding out for closer to €130M (£112M).

Andoni Iraola’s side have been dealt a further blow as the Ivory Coast international is now understood to favour a move to Paris Saint-Germain if he leaves Leipzig.

The 19-year-old is said to be keen on a move to the reigning European champions due to the appeal of their sporting project that includes working under Luis Enrique.

But Diomande’s potential arrival in the French capital this summer could still benefit Liverpool due to the domino effect it will trigger within their attacking ranks.

PSG are also pursuing Monaco playmaker Maghnes Akliouche which risks opening the door for Bradley Barcola to seal his departure from the Parc des Princes.

The France international has been on Liverpool’s radar for some time and faces an uncertain long-term future with Les Parisiens after contract talks recently stalled.

Barcola’s current deal expires in two years’ time but has broken off negotiations despite finishing last season as the club’s leading goal scorer in Ligue 1 with 11.

Liverpool also retain an interest in Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh, Said El Mala of Koln and Lille forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo as they seek to replace Mohamed Salah.
