Harvey Elliott’s situation at Liverpool will be one to monitor closely this summer. Reports suggest the young midfielder will be handed a real opportunity to impress new Reds boss Andoni Iraola in pre-season, but his long‑term role is far from guaranteed.
The 23-year-old struggled for minutes under Unai Emery, with Villa deliberately limiting his appearances to avoid activating an obligation-to-buy clause that would have been triggered had he featured more than 10 times in the Premier League.
Although he left Villa Park with a Europa League medal, it was a sour season on a personal note.
Now Elliott links back up with Liverpool for their pre-season tour of the United States under Andoni Iraola.
The Reds will spend two weeks Stateside, taking on Sunderland in Nashville, Wrexham at Yankee Stadium in New York and Leeds United at Soldier Field in Chicago as part of their preparations for the 2026–27 campaign.
Elliott is expected to be part of that travelling squad, with the club keen to give him a clean slate and a proper chance to impress in front of American fans and, more importantly, on the training pitch in front of Iraola and his staff.
But even if he impresses, there will be clubs keen on him knowing his situation at Anfield.
Now Sky Sports has reported that Crystal Palace “are also understood to be monitoring Harvey Elliott’s situation at Liverpool.”
The Eagles are entering a new era under highly rated French coach Pierre Sage, who arrives from French club RC Lens.
Thanks to Oliver Glasner’s UEFA Conference League triumph last season, Palace will be playing in the Europa League next season – something that could appeal to Elliott.
Meanwhile, RB Leipzig are likewise believed to be monitoring his situation having held interest in him last summer.
Elliott has been pictured putting in the work during his summer break, and will likely want to earn a spot back in the Liverpool team.
