Robbie Fowler suggests Liverpool sign“Salah-type” winger

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has come out with an interesting shout on who Liverpool should sign this summer.

A like-for-like replacement for Mohamed Salah simply does not exist, and fans would be doing a disservice to any winger Liverpool sign by comparing him to the Egyptian king.

Salah has again carried Egypt at the 2026 World Cup, registering a goal and two assists in the Pharaohs group stage campaign.

He was withdrawn in the second half of their 1-1 draw with Iran after feeling discomfort in his left knee, prompting immediate panic back on Merseyside and across Egypt.

National team doctor Mohamed Aboul Ela said of the injury:

“He is suffering from a strain in the posterior muscles, following pains he felt during the Iran match, leading to his substitution.”

“The player has begun implementing his treatment program.”

Amid the anxiety over their former talisman, Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has floated a bold idea for how the Reds might try to fill the Salah‑shaped hole.

Posting on X, Fowler wrote that Christian Pulisic could be a successful signing:

“Plenty of rumours about as to who’s going to Liverpool, one name I’ve not seen mentioned is Pulisic… good age, played in the prem, exciting player, I’d take him, potentially a Salah type of pathway, thoughts?”

The suggestion leans on the notion that, like Salah, Christian Pulisic has already had a mixed Premier League spell and could blossom at Anfield after a stint in Serie A.

Pulisic is now 27, an age where a wide forward should be at or very close to his peak rather than still being talked about as a pure “potential” signing.

His first major red flag remains that Chelsea period, when he struggled to nail down a starting spot in sides that themselves were searching for attacking identity and featured misfiring forwards such as Timo Werner and a young, inconsistent Kai Havertz.

While his return of 10 goals and 4 assists in 34 appearances for AC Milan last season is respectable, it hardly screams out as the heir to Salah’s Premier League‑breaking numbers, especially given Pulisic’s own patchy injury history.

Plenty of rumours about as to who’s going to @LFC , one name I’ve not seen mentioned is pulisic… good age , played in the prem, exciting player , I’d take him, potentially a Salah type of pathway, thoughts?
