The Yan Diomande saga could rumble on for a while yet.

After a breakout campaign in the Bundesliga and eye‑catching performances at the World Cup.

The Ivory Coast winger has shot to the very top of several shortlists across Europe, with both Liverpool and Paris Saint‑Germain pushing hard to convince him and his club.

But it emerged on Sunday night that the RB Leipzig man has signalled that he wants to join PSG this summer, even after Liverpool made an opening bid of £86.3 million. It was structured as £69 million up front plus £17.3 million.

Now Red Bull Leipzig Managing Director Marcel Schäfer has asserted that their clear intention to keep Yan Diomande this summer:

“Our clear intention is for Yan Diomande to play for RB Leipzig next season. And we’re not going to deviate from that,” he said to BILD.

“We know exactly what we have in him. Of course, if Yan continues to develop the way he has, the time will come when we’ll allow him to take the next step – but not this year.”

Schäfer added:

If we don’t find a solution, then we don’t find one – but he still has a four-year contract. So let me emphasize this once again: Yan Diomande will remain a Leipzig player.”

Meanwhile, Yan Diomande himself spoke about his future after his nation’s final World Cup game last week, refusing to give in to the speculation:

“I don’t know. I’m not thinking about my future after the World Cup,” he said to Sky Sports.

“I’m trying to put all my energy into the World Cup and see what’s going to happen after, but I can’t say anything about my future.”

🔴🗣️ RB Leipzig remain very clear in their stance despite PSG’s efforts. They want to keep Diomande beyond this summer, as Managing Director Marcel Schäfer confirmed.
