Jurgen Klopp is a certified fan favorite among Germany fans, and most would have absolutely no hesitation in him replacing Juliann Nagelsmann as the nation's head coach.

Klopp stepped away from management after leaving Liverpool and has so far shown no desire to return to the dugout. Nagelsmann has his critics in Germany and his methods have never truly won over fans.

Speaking to Liverpool.com ahead of the game, fans spoke glowingly about Klopp - who recently made a subtle Nagelsmann dig - and gave him their backing should the Germany job become a possibility.

Discussing the former Liverpool boss, one fan with Wirtz on the back of his shirt said, “Maybe he’s our next German coach.” When asked for a choice between Klopp and Nagelsmann, he said, “Klopp for sure."

Another fan, however, doubted that the perception of the German team would change if Klopp were to take charge. “Jurgen Klopp is always fun," he said. "What he did at Liverpool is just amazing. Watching it from Hamburg, where I live, it was absolutely amazing.

“But in the national team it’s a different ball game. It’s so difficult to satisfy 84 million chief coaches. This is what Nagelsmann is facing right now. I’m not 100 percent sure that this will change when (if) Jurgen Klopp comes in. You lose, the whole mood changes.”

Another said, "Jurgen Klopp is a very good manager, I think he’s a very good coach. He would be very good for Germany. I think Julian Nagelsmann is not the best for Germany because he has his own head, makes his own things, and doesn’t want someone from the outside to say something to him.

"We will see what happens. It’s not easy to stay as a coach when we go out this round, next round, I think he has to deliver this tournament and when we don’t catch the semifinals I think he has a problem and then Jurgen Klopp is the hottest candidate to be the next coach of the German national team.”

His friend chimed in, “I also think it depends on the result of the World Cup and after that they will be deciding. But Jurgen Klopp’s a good manager, awesome manager and he can also coach a national team like Germany."

Another fan said that regardless of where he manages, he just wants to see Klopp return to the game, “Jurgen Klopp is one of my favorite managers, of course. I wish he didn’t retire. And even though he retired I wish he had gone on to his next adventure because in England I’m a die-hard Liverpool fan but I’d want him to go to a Bayern Munich, or Barcelona, or Juventus because I do love soccer and try to support other clubs in other countries.”

Would he like to see him replace Nagelsmann? “Yes, definitely. If he’s ready to retire and he wants to do a managing job for the national team, it is time, because he’s an incredible manager."

Another Nagelsmann detractor said, “I’m not a big fan of Nagelsmann because of how he treats some players on the German national team and I’d love to see him (Klopp) replace him.”

His mother added, “Big fan of Jurgen Klopp. He has personality, he has the heart, he has a way of speaking to his players so he brings the best out of them. I think he has a great coach, so, yes.”

Finally, a German with a particularly strong accent added, "Firstly, I love Jurgen Klopp. Our little town has a soccer club and we are doing the same things there he does or would do. But at the moment I think Julian Nagelsmann is the best one for Germany. And let’s take a look in five years.”
