Liverpool have emerged as a surprise destination for a Premier League star - who looks set to leave his club this summer.

The Reds have already been active in the transfer market, as well as welcoming new boss Andoni Iraola, following a dismal season under Arne Slot who paid for a fifth-placed finish by losing his job. And with the new manager comes a new set of transfer targets - including Sandro Tonali.

Tonali had been a standout at AC Milan and Newcastle, but he looks set to leave the latter with Spurs and Manchester City emerging as potential destinations. Daily Star Sport has a look at the two biggest stories coming out of Anfield in the past 24 hours.

Liverpool enter Sandro Tonali battle

Liverpool have emerged as a shock destination for Sandro Tonali, who is looking increasingly likely to leave Newcastle this summer with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City interested in his services.

However, according to a report from Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Reds could also be a potential destination. The report claims that Tonali's starting price of €100m (£86m) could jump to €120m (£103m) due to the interest being shown.

Spurs have made the Italy international their top summer target and it's understood they have agreed a personal package worth £275k-a-week with the player following talks with his agency, GR Sports.
