Sheffield Wednesday youngster - linked with Everton - signs new contract

YOUNG Sheffield Wednesday striker Will Grainger has signed a new three-year deal with the League One outfit.

It ends speculation regarding the future of the Wales under-19 forward, who had been linked with a summer move to Premier League giants Everton.

The highly-rated teenager, 17, made his first start for the Owls in their final-day win against Norwich, having netted from the bench in the previous week’s game at Oxford.

Grainger took over the captaincy of Wednesday's under-21 side earlier this season and has impressed in his duties with Wales’ age group sides.

He featured eight times in total for the club last term after making his debut in the ERFL Cup tie with Yorkshire rivals Leeds United last August.
