Bruno Guimaraes 'likes' Fabrizio Romano Arsenal bid claim as Newcastle United watch on

Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes liked a post referencing Arsenal’s bid to sign him.

Guimaraes produced an excellent 95th-minute assist as the Brazilians came from 1-0 down to beat Japan 2-1 in Houston.

Kaishu Sano fired Japan in front in the 29th minute before Casemiro equalised early in the second half. Gabriel Martinelli then broke Japanese hearts in the final moments after Guimaraes had the vision to pick out his teammate in the box.

It was Guimaraes’ fourth assist of the World Cup, the highest tally of any player so far.

Uploading a photo of Guimaraes in a Brazil shirt wearing a crown to Instagram, Fabrizio Romano wrote: “𝐎𝐅𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋: Bruno Guimarães, currently 𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐎𝐅 𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐒 at 2026 World Cup with 4️⃣ 𝐃𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐃 🤴🏼✨

“👟 vs. Morocco, 👟👟 vs. Scotland,👟 vs. Japan

“Arsenal had a £55m bid rejected by Newcastle last week 🙅🏼‍♂️

“𝐍𝐨 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬. Bruno’s on fire 😁🇧🇷”

Newcastle United stance on Bruno Guimaraes

The Gazette understands Guimaraes is open to leaving Newcastle, but club sources insist their captain isn’t for sale and that no offers will be entertained.

While the Magpies are yet to be contacted by Arsenal, reports last week claimed they had turned down a £60million offer, which was communicated through intermediaries.

Guimaraes’ contract at St James’ Park runs until 2028, though the club hold an option of a further year.
