David Ornstein drops key update on Liverpool target who's among best"in the world"in his role

Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola has been linked with a move to Liverpool this summer, and journalist David Ornstein has dropped a new update.

The Reds have suffered a blow with the news that reported leading wide target Yan Diomande is likely to join PSG instead, but journalist Ben Jacobs has named other options being looked at, saying:

“As I revealed, three other targets are Mathias Fernandez Pardo, who’s also at the World Cup, Said El Mala, who has had other Premier League interest this window, and Brighton’s Yankuba Mintah. So come what may, Liverpool are going to add another attacker, and Yan Diamonde remains their leading target. I think it’s fair to say they’re actively working on those alternatives simply because it gives you leverage in the market as well.”

Barcola is another name who has been thrown into the mix for Liverpool, and The Athletic‘s Ornstein has now provided the latest on the Frenchman’s situation.

He claims that the winger “appears reluctant to sign a new deal amid lower game-time than he would like and he is pushing for more starts”, while PSG feel the “speculated market rate” for him is “way off and he should be valued at a much higher price than the £116m Manchester City will pay for Elliot Anderson.”

Can Bradley Barcola fill Mo Salah-shaped void at Liverpool?

Barcola is an explosive winger with searing pace and quality in the final third, so he could be a fantastic signing, proving capable of shining on either flank and being hailed by analyst Ben Mattinson in the past:

“Kvaratskhelia gets his first goal for PSG! What a turn and finish. But look at the pass from Barcola, he’s developing into one of the best wingers in the world before our very eyes.”

Barcola is at his best on the left-hand side, however, like new Liverpool signing Victor Munoz, which is a slight drawback as they look to replace the legendary Mohamed Salah.

If Andoni Iraola feels the France international can be devastating on the right, it is a move worth pursuing, but if not, a more natural option there may make more sense. Then again, three wingers being brought in would be perfect.
