There are bound to be some very exciting transfers at Stamford Bridge this summer – but there are also some rather prosaic ones which just need to be ticked off the list. They all count.
That’s where we’d put the club’s need to sign a new third choice goalkeeper. It’s not glamorous, but it needs to happen. And with Filip Jorgensen on the way out, there will need to be new addition.

Our writer Simon Phillips has an update on his Substack about the whole situation. He says that “everything is up in the air right now” regarding our goalkeepers, which is never what you want to hear.
What looks most likely right now is Jorgensen leaving and Mike Penders coming in from loan to replace him as competition for Robert Sanchez. As for the third choice, last season saw a number of fringe players like Gaga Slonina and Teddy Sharman-Lowe fill that spot. This year, a veteran player with home grown status is expected to be brought in, taking us back to the Rob Green days.
He reports that Jason Steele of Brighton was contacted last week, for starters.
