Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres has opened up on his face-off against teammate William Saliba as Sweden take on France in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Blågult will take on Didier Deschamps' side in the Round of 32 of the FIFA World Cup on Monday, June 30.
Sweden finished third in Group F with four points and progressed to the knockout stages as one of the eight best third-placed teams. France, on the other hand, won all three group-stage games and finished top of Group I in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
As Sweden take on Les Bleus, Arsenal teammates Viktor Gyokeres and William Saliba will take on each other. Ahead of the game, Gyokeres has claimed that he is looking forward to facing his club teammate. He said, as quoted by afcstuff on X:
“We have to be at our best & take the chances we’re going to get in the game. I’m looking forward to seeing William Saliba & playing against him, it’s going to be fun!”
Gyokeres joined Arsenal in the summer of 2025 and played a key role in their Premier League win. The 28-year-old scored 21 goals and provided three assists in 55 games across competitions. Gyokeres has shared the pitch with Saliba on 45 occasions as teammates and also once as opponents when he was at Sporting CP, where Arsenal won 5-1.
Arsenal and Chelsea told to pay £130 million to sign FIFA World Cup star - Reports
Aston Villa will reportedly demand £130 million for England's FIFA World Cup star Morgan Rogers. The 23-year-old has emerged as a target for Chelsea and Arsenal, but they have reportedly been told that they have to pay a premium for his signature.
Rogers has proven to be a fantastic bargain for Aston Villa who acquired his signature from Middlesbrough for just £8 million in February 2024. He has made 125 appearances for the Villans till date, scoring 31 goals and providing 29 assists.
Unai Emery's side reportedly have no intention of letting go of the attacking midfielder who has featured in all three group-stage games for England at the World Cup. They would reportedly only change their mind if a club agrees to pay £130 million, £5 million more than what Liverpool paid for Alexander Isak last summer.
Rogers has started one game and come on from the bench twice in the FIFA World Cup so far for England. He is yet to score or assist but has looked lively and can be a crucial player if the Three Lions have to go deep in the competition.
