Liverpool have once again been linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola after appearing to miss out on RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande.
New Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola is continuing to assess his options ahead of his first season in charge, with Barcola remaining a player admired by the club.
The France international has been linked with Liverpool for some time, and speculation over his future has intensified following Diomande’s decision to choose PSG ahead of Liverpool.
Barcola is under contract until the summer of 2028. Liverpool could face strong competition from Premier League champions Arsenal.
According to BBC Sport, the Gunners view Barcola as an alternative to Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers after receiving encouragement that the PSG winger could be available this summer.
Arsenal representatives, who have tracked Barcola for some time, are expected to watch him again during France’s World Cup round of 32 clash with Sweden on Tuesday night.
Rogers remains Arsenal’s priority target, but Aston Villa’s reported £130million valuation is considered a major obstacle. As a result, Barcola has emerged as a leading alternative.
Diomande’s protracted move to PSG could also have implications for Barcola’s future. Although the winger has two years left on his remaining contract, any deal is expected to cost significantly less than a move for Rogers, whose Villa contract runs until 2031.
Should PSG decide to entertain offers, Arsenal are expected to be among the leading contenders, while Liverpool are also believed to be monitoring the situation closely.
Liverpool are expected to be active in the transfer market this summer, particularly after the departures of Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate, all of whom left as free agents.
Following Diomande’s preference for a move to Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool have begun identifying alternative options.
Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh, FC Köln’s Said El Mala and Lille’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo have all been mentioned as potential targets, although there has been no major development on any of those fronts.
One signing has already been completed under new head coach Andoni Iraola, with Victor Munoz joining from Osasuna in a deal worth around £34.5m.
