Arsenal interested in signing "unstoppable" 23yo star to bolster frontline - Mokbel

Arsenal are expected to step up their interest in signing Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola after Aston Villa’s hefty valuation for Morgan Rogers, according to BBC Sport journalist Sami Mokbel.

The Gunners are determined to sign a marquee left winger this summer. Rogers has been identified as the priority target, but Villa’s £130 million valuation could prove a stumbling block.

Hence, Mikel Arteta’s side could look elsewhere, and Mokbel reports that Barcola has been viewed as a strong alternative option by the Gunners’ recruitment staff this summer.

RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande has recently revealed his desire to join PSG. His protracted move could pave the way for Barcola’s exit, given his contract expires in two years’ time.

If PSG open the door for his departure, it is claimed that a transfer would likely cost less than Rogers, whose contract with Villa does not expire until the summer of 2031.

Arsenal will reportedly watch Barcola in action for France against Sweden today.

Barcola would be a perfect signing for the Gunners

The Lyon graduate has been one of the most sought-after wingers in European football. He made 20 goal contributions last campaign despite being in and out of the starting XI.

Barcola’s preferred position is on the left wing, but he has recently played second fiddle to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for the big Ligue 1 and European games under manager Luis Enrique.

The Frenchman may have his sights on becoming a regular starter elsewhere, particularly with PSG contemplating a move for Diomande, who would add more competition out wide.

Arsenal are preparing to part ways with Trossard and have already accepted an offer from Besiktas. There is a high likelihood that he will depart, as his contract expires in June next year.

Barcola could establish himself as the mainstay on the left wing ahead of Gabriel Martinelli. He would be an upgrade due to his better distribution, ball-carrying ability and chance creation.

The 23-year-old, described as ‘unstoppable‘ by Enrique, would be a statement signing.

With under two years left on his contract, a deal worth £85-90m would represent good business, given his huge potential, but PSG could seek a higher sum based on the inflated prices lately.
