Meanwhile, the 2026/27 Premier League season isn’t really that far away, and clubs are already planning their campaigns following the big fixture list release. It’s also set to be a hectic summer of transfer activity as teams in England’s top tier battle to get their priority signings on board, and things are set to get frenzied once the World Cup finishes later this month.
Today’s transfer rumour update begins at Anfield, where Liverpool are set to head into an exciting new era under incoming boss Andoni Iraola. One player who looks unlikely to be part of it is midfielder Curtis Jones, with Caught Offside claiming he’s keen to leave in the pursuit of a new challenge elsewhere.
The story says that Serie A giants Inter have been pushing hard to sign the England international, and have had offers turned down for him already - the most recent being £14m short of Liverpool’s apparent £35m valuation. The Reds are said to be unwilling to let the player go on the cheap, despite his contract now ticking on into its final years. Juventus are also said to be in the mix.
The 3AM Verdict: Inter are clearly set on signing Jones, but £35m is an awful lot to spend on a player who will be a free agent next summer. The Reds have been stubborn in similar situations in the past, most notably with Mohamed Salah, and could risk losing another talent without getting a penny. The clubs should just agree to meet halfway on the fee, really.
Crystal Palace chase Lacroix successor

Over to Selhurst Park next, where Crystal Palace are also preparing for fresh beginning under a new boss, with Pierre Sage taking the wheel from the departing Oliver Glasner. Changes look set to come on the field too, with star centre-back Maxime Lacroix looking likely to join Chelsea (another club with a new manager in Xabi Alonso) this summer.
Team Talk say that the Eagles have earmarked Toulouse defender Charlie Cresswell as their ideal replacement for Lacroix. Chelsea were said to have offered either Tosin Adarabioyo, Trevoh Chalobah, Axel Disasi or Benoit Badiashile to whittle down the fee for Lacroix, but Palace are said to have snubbed them all in favour of the ex-Leeds United defender.
The report goes on to claim that Palace are now “pushing hard” to sign Cresswell, and that they’re likely to beat Coventry City to his signing as well as Leeds, who are said to be keen to re-sign their former prospect. The Eagles are said to be very much in pole position, as they look to sign a player who the new manager knows well from his time in Ligue 1.
The 3AM Verdict: You really have to feel for Palace, who lost Marc Guehi in the last transfer window and now look set to bid farewell to Lacroix in this one. That said, the club’s recruitment is generally sound, and Cresswell has clearly been deemed as a player who can make a serious impact in the Premier League. Although, Trevoh Chalobah is arguably a better option.

Bringing us to a close, Everton on the hunt for a new midfielder to add to the signing of Hayden Hackney, which is expected to be confirmed in the coming days. Reports from Italy, via Sport Witness, claim that the Toffees are now chasing Parma ace Mandela Keita, and have opened talks with both the player’s entourage and the Serie A club over a potential deal.
The article claims that the Toffees have rapidly accelerated their interest in the Belgium international, who won the Belgian Pro League in 2023 during a spell with Royal Antwerp. It’s suggested that the player could cost north of £17m, which may be covered by the potential sale of Tim Iroegbunam, who has been linked with a move to newly promoted Ipswich Town for a similar fee.
The 3AM Verdict: David Moyes is clearly looking to revamp his midfield this summer, with Hackney on the way and now Keita having the potential to join too. The latter is a ball-winning midfielder in the style of N’Golo Kante, who thrives on breaking up opposition possession and helping to ignite a counter-attack. If the price is right, he could be a fine signing.
