Liverpool have reportedly stepped up their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola after opening fresh discussions with the France international’s representatives, with the Reds now fully aware of the financial package required to secure his signature.
According to TEAMtalk, LIVERPOOL have held new talks with Barcola’s camp and have been informed that the 23-year-old is expected to leave the Ligue 1 champions before the close of the summer transfer window.
The report adds that PSG have placed a valuation of around €120 million (£103 million) on the winger, a figure Liverpool have been made aware of as they assess whether to formalise their interest.
Barcola has emerged as Liverpool’s leading attacking target following a dramatic shift in the club’s transfer plans. Reports suggest the Premier League side were forced to reassess their options after RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande indicated his preference was to join PSG should he leave Germany this summer.
That development has reportedly prompted Liverpool to accelerate their interest in Barcola, who is now viewed as one of the club’s priority targets.
The France international is believed to be increasingly open to a new challenge after becoming frustrated with his role under PSG manager Luis Enrique.
Despite featuring regularly throughout last season, Barcola reportedly feels he has slipped behind Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue in the pecking order, with limited involvement during the latter stages of the club’s UEFA Champions League campaign reinforcing his desire for a fresh start.
Liverpool’s recruitment team are said to remain confident that Barcola possesses the pace, versatility and technical quality required to thrive at Anfield. While the reported £103 million asking price would make him one of the most expensive signings in the club’s history, sources claim the valuation has not discouraged Liverpool’s hierarchy, who continue to explore the feasibility of a deal.
Competition for the winger’s signature is expected to be fierce. Arsenal have also been heavily linked with Barcola, while Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are all understood to be monitoring the situation. However, TEAMtalk reports that Liverpool and Arsenal are currently showing the strongest interest among Europe’s elite clubs.
For now, LIVERPOOL‘s interest remains at the exploratory stage, but fresh contact with the player’s camp and confirmation of PSG’s valuation suggest the transfer saga could gather momentum in the coming weeks as the Reds weigh up whether to launch one of the biggest bids of the summer.
