Xabi Alonso will begin working with his new Chelsea squad on Thursday, July 9, with the players set to report back to pre-season training next week.
The Blues stars not involved at the World Cup are set to start their pre-season workout in eight days' time and get the opportunity to work with their new manager for the first time. Alonso has officially started his managerial role at Chelsea today (July 1) but will get down to business next week.
Alonso is expected to start work with new signings Dastan Satpayev, Emmanuel Emegha and Geovany Quenda, who all signed pre-agreed deals to move to Stamford Bridge this summer. Valentin Barco, meanwhile, is with the Argentina squad for the ongoing World Cup, likewise Mike Penders with Belgium.
