Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey has urged the Reds to prioritise a move for Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola rather than continue pursuing RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande, according to the latest transfer reports.
Liverpool have been assessing several attacking options this summer after missing out on Diomande, who is now widely expected to join Paris Saint-Germain following advanced negotiations between the French champions and RB Leipzig.
The development has forced the Merseyside club to consider alternative targets as they look to strengthen their wide attacking options.
Speaking about LIVERPOOL‘s next move, Heskey believes Barcola would represent the ideal signing thanks to his pace, direct style and suitability for the club’s high-intensity approach.
He said: “I think one of those two (Diomande and Barcola) would take us back to that level. If I had to choose one, it would be Barcola.”
Barcola has been linked with a move away from PSG despite enjoying another productive campaign. The arrival of further attacking reinforcements at the Parc des Princes, including the expected signing of Diomande, has fuelled speculation that the French international could become available if the right offer arrives.
However, reports suggest PSG remain reluctant to sanction a sale and would only consider bids in excess of £100 million, underlining just how highly they value the 23-year-old winger.
Liverpool’s interest in Barcola is not new, but recent developments surrounding Diomande have intensified discussions over whether the club should switch its focus. Reports indicate the Reds have monitored several alternatives, including FC Köln youngster Said El Mala, although Barcola is viewed as one of the standout options should he become attainable.
The transfer landscape has shifted dramatically over the past week. Earlier in the year, Heskey had publicly backed a move for Diomande, praising the Ivorian winger’s unpredictability and ability to stretch defences.
