Arsenal have identified a ‘strong alternative’ in case their interest in Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers proves too costly.

The Premier League champions have been extensively linked with Rogers, indeed Fabrizio Romano reported just a few hours ago they are the front-runners.

However, with Villa asking for a British record £130million for the 23-year-old, BBC Sport are reporting the Gunners are expected to ‘step up their interest’ in PSG’s Bradley Barcola.

The France international played and scored in last night’s 3-0 World Cup win over Sweden, in a game lit up by Kylian Mbappe and Michael Olise.

The BBC say Arsenal have been monitoring Barcola for ‘some time’, as have Liverpool who have identified him as a replacement for Mo Salah.

Another transfer domino is the fact PSG are trying to sign Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig, which could cause delays.

Barcola has two years left on his deal with the European champions, making him a much more cost effective option than Rogers who is contracted to Villa until 2031.
