Inter Milan have been pursuing a move for Curtis Jones, who has now attracted attention from Nottingham Forest as well.
Earlier this week, Sport Witness covered Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio’s speaking about the midfielder. He confirmed the Italian champions’ interest in him but was certain that a deal will be difficult. Ausilio also indicated that Inter could end up pulling out of the move altogether.
This came after their initial offer was deemed too low by Liverpool. The Reds’ demand stood at €30m, which was €10m lower than Inter’s bid. This forced the Nerazzurri to keep waiting for a possible discount later in the window.
The 25-year-old has now attracted attention from Nottingham Forest.
Player decision clear
Today’s Corriere dello Sport clarifies that Inter haven’t given up on Jones. Ausilio’s comments were one way of explaining the situation, which isn’t easy.
Nottingham Forest’s involvement could have made it more difficult, but that isn’t the case.
The newspaper report the Midlands club have stepped forward for Jones in ‘recent days’. However, the player isn’t keen.
He’s wanted to move to the San Siro since January, when a transfer almost happened.
Nottingham Forest may not have a chance, unless Inter completely step away from the player.
Patience key for Forest

Curtis Jones has rejected Liverpool’s advances over a renewal, with his current deal running out in 2027. This makes him a very attractive player for many suitors, but the Reds aren’t in a rush.
Nottingham Forest should remain in the hunt. Inter may not meet Liverpool’s demands at a time when Vitor Pereira’s side will earn a huge amount from Elliot Anderson’s sale.
That could place them in the driving seat but patience will be needed.
