Jeremy Jacquet has provided a positive update on his shoulder injury.

The 20-year-old suffered the shoulder setback at the beginning of February, days after it was announced that he would join Liverpool in the summer.

Subsequent scans confirmed that surgery would be required, with Rennes later announcing that the 20‑year‑old would go under the knife to repair damage in his left shoulder, effectively ruling him out for the remainder of the campaign in Ligue 1.

The player later confirmed the operation had been a success.

In the weeks leading up to his official Liverpool announcement, Jacquet was spotted putting himself through intense individual fitness drills, reportedly employing a private performance coach during the off-season to make sure he hit the ground running and didn’t lose valuable time to rehabilitation on arrival.

The sight of the 6ft 3in Frenchman going through sharp passing practice and agility work, showing no visible discomfort, offered Liverpool supporters and the coaching staff a timely boost ahead of pre-season reporting.

Now speaking to liverpoolfc.com, the Frenchman has confirmed that his shoulder is “much better” and although it is preferred that he holds off on training with the group for now:

“Yes, yes I will be 100% fit in time for next season, for sure.”

“My shoulder is much better now, and as part of my rehab, I’m now back on the grass on my own. The surgeon has given me the go-ahead to start training with the group again, but unfortunately, it was preferred to just hold off on that. And so now, this summer, I’m going to do everything I can to come back here 100% fit.”

Liverpool’s medical team were reportedly in close contact with their Rennes counterparts throughout the process, carefully overseeing the approach to ensure their £60 million man arrived on Merseyside in the best possible shape.
