Jeremy Jacquet underwent shoulder surgery in March but, upon the completion of his £60 million move to Liverpool, he is eyeing a return in time for pre-season.
Liverpool agreed a deal to sign Jacquet in January, but the 20-year-old stayed with Rennes for the remainder of the season.
But six days after the transfer was announced, a serious shoulder injury forced him to undergo surgery which ruled him out until the summer.
Speaking after his move to Anfield became official on July 1, Jacquet revealed that he is set to be fully fit in time for pre-season.

“My shoulder is much better now, and as part of my rehab I’m now back out on the grass on my own,” he told LFCTV.
“The surgeon has given me the go-ahead to start training with the group again. But unfortunately, it was preferred to just hold off on that [before I left Rennes].
“And so now, this summer, I’m going to do everything I can to come back here 100 percent fit.”
Asked again if he expects to be ready for day one of pre-season, which is slated for July 13, Jacquet said: “Yes, yes, I will be 100 percent fit in time for next season, for sure.”
Though Virgil van Dijk is now expected to return in time for Liverpool’s tour of the United States, it is a major positive that Andoni Iraola‘s new centre-back will be available for the friendlies against Sunderland, Wrexham and Leeds.
“I’m very excited because there’ll be the first matches, the first sessions with my team-mates. I hope that it will go well,” Jacquet continued.
The France U21 international is set to replace countryman Ibrahima Konate as first-choice centre-back alongside Van Dijk, with the slate wiped clean under new management.
Though he agreed to sign during Arne Slot‘s reign, the appointment of Iraola comes with Jacquet convinced next season will be an improvement.
“I know that things are going to go better next season, without a shadow of a doubt,” he vowed.
Liverpool will have a strong squad at the AXA Training Centre from the first day of pre-season, with Jacquet likely to be joined by the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones, Milos Kerkez and Rio Ngumoha.
Van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, Cody Gakpo, Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak are now due back around the time Iraola’s squad fly to the US.
