The latest transfer talk from Newcastle United as the Magpies look to add to their squad during the summer transfer window.
The Magpies suffered major frustration at the hands of the Reds earlier this month when they appeared to have moved to the brink of securing a deal for Osasuna winger Victor Munoz - but the Spain international opted to make a move to Anfield at the eleventh hour. There has also been speculation suggesting the two-time Premier League champions maintain an interest in United midfielder Sandro Tonali - although Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be the only that have submitted a firm offer for the Italy star.

Recent reports have also stated Newcastle and Liverpool will go head-to-head in their attempts to sign another winger this summer after both clubs were linked with moves for Cologne star Said El Mala and Lille's Matias Fernandez-Pardo in recent weeks. The Magpies are reportedly considering both players as possible replacements for Anthony Gordon after the England international completed a big money move to La Liga champions Barcelona. However, there were also suggestions Liverpool were keen on both players after reported target Yan Diomande was closing in on a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
One key figure are RB Leipzig has now cast doubt over that move and stating it will not take place this summer. Speaking to Bild, RB Leipzig managing director Marcel Schafer: “Our clear intention is: Yan Diomande will play for RB Leipzig next year. And we’re not backing down from that. We know what we have in him. Of course, if Yan continues like this, the time will come when we give him the opportunity to take the next step - but not this year."
Should PSG be able to force through the move, they could provide an unexpected benefit to Newcastle as The Athletic have claimed the Champions League winners could well allow Liverpool target Bradley Barcola to depart. The France international could face further competition for a place in Luis Enrique’s as PSG have moved closer to a deal for Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche. In a further development, The Athletic’s David Ornstein has also claimed PSG do not need to sell Barcola following the sale of Gabriel Ramos to AC Milan - although an impasse in contract talks between Barcola and the Ligue 1 champions could change the situation.
