Liverpool are reportedly in the mix to sign Wolves youngster Mateus Mane alongside some of their Premier League rivals, with scouts watching him closely.
The Reds continue their search for attacking wide options in the summer transfer window, with Victor Munoz already brought in from Osasuna.
It looks as though RB Leipzig and Ivory Coast star Yan Diomande is off to Paris Saint-Germain, however, following a key update from journalist David Ornstein:
“Yan Diomande chooses Paris Saint-Germain as next destination if he departs RB Leipzig this summer. 19yo said to believe in PSGproject led by Al-Khelaifi / Campos / Enrique + wants chance to lift trophies regularly & win Balon D’Or.”
According to Fussballdaten, Liverpool are now eyeing a move for Wolves ace Mane this summer, having been linked with him in the past.
The 18-year-old was a rare positive in Wanderers’ relegation from the Premier League to the Championship, and Reds scouts are “monitoring the player very closely”, along with Manchester United, Arsenal, and Newcastle United.
Mateus Mane can be a future star at Liverpool
Mane is an enormous talent who has already made 31 appearances for Wolves, scoring three goals and two assists in that time, showing quick feet and providing quality in the attacking third.
The teenager is at his best in an attacking midfield role, so he could come in to provide competition for the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai and Florian Wirtz, with Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson heaping praise on him, saying:
“He is something for the fans, they need something to get them up. He is enthusiastic, he has scored a couple of goals and he looks like he could be a superstar. He works hard and I like his attitude. There is a lot of pressure on him for a young kid.”
Ideally, Mane would also be able to do a job as a winger, giving Andoni Iraola extra options there, but even if he comes in as a central attacking player, there is plenty of sense in signing him.
The £30m-rated Portugal Under-21 international has a massive future in the game, and beating United and Arsenal to his signature could look like a major coup over time.
